Hotels, Speeches, and Gone with The Wind, oh my!!

We are taking a road trip, people.

In a few days I will be in Medford, OR, giving a speech to 350 people about my life and Helpful Hearts.

Yep, me. The girl in a wheelchair.

I’ll be giving it to a organization called Living Opportunities whose mission statement is exactly my life statement: “For people with developmental disabilities to work for the same employers, live in the same neighborhoods and have the same experiences everyone aspires to in our community.”

I guess I should tell you about our new project, too: We are partnering with a local organization who provides speech devices to kids in Central Oregon. We have enough money to grant a kid an iPad and an app that functions as a speech device.  How awesome is that?!

I thank God with squeals, shouts, and gratitude that He has put me in this position to do good unto others.

I am the luckiest girl in the world.

see you soon,

bee

P.S. I will be reading Gone with Wind on the way down to Medford.

It’s raining

I’m sitting here, listening to Paul Simon, trying to get these reports done, not because my mom is making me, but because I want to, I am determined

Who am I to go against the wind?

ha.

Yeast is the Reason for the Teardrops on my Guitar

Hey I was listening to Taylor Swift’s song “Teardrops on My Guitar” and I thought it be funny to replace these real lyrics:

He’s the reason for the teardrops on my guitar

with my fake one:

Yeast is the reason for the teardrops on my guitar.

Now, if your Jewish (like moi and family) you be telling me how awesome this joke is, but if your not let me explain:

We celebrate Passover along with a week long fast of yeast. No Oreos, cake, or anything with leaven.

Yeast, during this time, represents sin. So a few days before our fast starts, we clean the house and get any yeast out and what we clean out goes to homeless shelters.

So you get my joke?

How I Write

In the later future, people will ask me what my
“method” is, so I will answer now: God. He gives me the ideas for
everything, after that it is a bunch of screaming Top 40 and my script program.
I usually pass on parts of my screenplay or ideas to my friends and get their
advice, from there it’s just music and writing

It’s natural for me to go in a room and pick up funny little
phrases that people say and everyone thinks I’m good when I write; I will
humbly put myself under and say, I am only good with Jesus

So here’s to Top 40, good movies, and headphones.

Let the 2nd draft begin.

What Inspires Me to Write

Ever since my mother made us do Creative Writing assignments each day after school, it has become part of my life to write. It helped instill a daily luxury of writing a fun story or just writing an email to a friend.

Mom had this basket full of pictures that she cut out of magazines and we blindly would  choose one then write 250 words on it. Sometimes it was hard to come up with  ideas, but sometimes it wasn’t.

As I have gotten older and seen the world and its various things, I realized: ”Our entertainment industry stinks!” Seriously, if you think about it , you rarely see a show that is rated G or a movie that doesn’t at least have some type of swearing.

I think it’s sad that my generation has to be reduced to watching Hannah Montana and High School Musical.

Now, I’m not saying that ALL entertainment is bad, I’m just saying you have to dig deeper now more than you ever have before.

I can’t even read a book without having swearing or something objectionable in it.

So what do I plan to do?

Make appropriate movies for cats, old people, and families so they can watch TOGETHER without any red faces in the room.

Write books for teens that aren’t depressing and without Gothic vampires that eat your heart out.

And pursue what God has planned for me in the best way that I can without any fear and pursue my motto:

“I might be in a wheelchair, but I kick BUTT!!”

Guess what?

I’m sick!!

When I get sick it’s a very drawn out affair filled with complaining and praying to God to help me though this, which He does by putting me though a fire to help me get stronger.

Every one of my friends has gotten sick, it’s time for me.

“Come on down, Bee your the next contestant on Sick is Not Right!!”

You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you are in.

Typewriters

As I type the final scenes of my screenplay, I think of these things:

This is going to be epic.
People, I’m going rock your socks off.

I hope Roger Ebert gives me a thumbs up.

I wish this thing would enter when I tell it to.

I wish I could update PHP.

Alright this blog post is annoying me very much, so I shall bid you a goodnight,

Ah, my enter just worked, well lookie there.

Good enter. *petting my enter, just kidding, that’s creepy.*

Typewriters are easier.
